Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) is an international service organization. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African American college-educated women. Alpha Kappa Alpha has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for citizens worldwide and promoting peace.

 

Sixteen visionary women founded Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. on January 15, 1908.

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is comprised of nearly 300,00 members in 1,012 graduate chapters and undergraduate chapters in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada, Japan, Germany, South Korea, the Middle East and on the continent of Africa.

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's membership includes distinguished women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service.

 

The current administration's programmatic theme is "Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood".

Epsilon Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated will engage in fostering the needs of its community and the surrounding areas by administering programs designed to enrich cultural, social, character, and economic development. The Chapter will maintain a sisterly environment among its members; create stimulating programs that enrich the lives of those it serves; recruit and retain women of high ethical and moral standards; develop resources that enliven and enhance the mission of the chapter; and encourage linkage between a life of sisterhood, service, and learning that is the vital connection with the community at-large.
